summer's end

ohh the last of summer..

days are cooler and noticeably shorter,  mornings are foggy and dewy.

the trees are laden with fruit.

we begin our royal gala and silken harvest.

our macintosh, ginger gold, and prima apples are still available.

royal gala

i always say these are the prettiest apples on the farm..

the colour is so intense and cheery! yes pink is my favourite colour.

you will find them a little smaller this year,

after our summer of heat and drought.

smaller, but still sweet, mellow and juicy.

small apples are perfect for little hands and lunch boxes.

you can use these to bake too.

i have used used them in an apple rose tart.

silken

sweet, firm and juicy, with the bonus of thin skin make these such a popular apple..

especially with the kids. they are best enjoyed fresh!

if you love a honeycrisp apple, you will love these!

summer’s end is a beautiful time time to be in the orchards.

the last summer hugs,

laura
