wasn’t that a short and sweet week!

did you bring your teacher an apple?

i think your homework is to come apple picking!

macintosh, gravenstein, prima and ginger gold apples are still available.

we begin our wealthy harvest.

wealthy

oh you have to try a wealthy.. they are fabulous!

although they are a very old apple, developed in 1868,

they are new to our farm.

they are sweet and juicy with hints of raspberry and lemon.

you will love those zingy notes.. they add another layer of flavour.

wealthys are crisp with a tender flesh and considered an all purpose variety..

brilliant for pies, crisps, and sauces.

they are also wonderful for juicing and cider.

and speaking of cider.. we have fresh cider for you.

it’s our first cider of the season.

it tastes of summer and sunshine and everything you love in an orchard.

we are serving it chilled down at the river.. with birdsong!

later in the season we love it warmed.

we pick our apples and have them pressed for us.

the flavour changes weekly depending on the varieties that we pick.

see if you can taste which apples we used.

we have a handful of harovin bounty pears that you may pick.

our pear orchard is very young and small.

although they aren’t ripe now, pears will ripen after you pick them.. unlike apples.

enjoy their lovely sweet flavour and smooth texture.

did you know we
have a sunflower field to visit?

looking forward to seeing you.
